New Children’s Book Seeks to Foster Appreciation for Cultural Diversity

“Naji and the mystery of the dig” aims to teach its readers that we are more alike than we are different.

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - July 21, 2014 - PRLog -- Naji and the mystery of the dig is a primary-school-aged mystery novel starring Naji, an 8-year-old Iranian girl living in Tehran, who leads readers on an adventure as she discovers the secret beneath the peculiar hole in her courtyard. Through Naji’s inquisitiveness, children can explore a world of Middle Eastern culture, folklore and cuisine.

In our modern world,  every society is a mixture of many different cultures from all corners of the earth. The book’s author Vahid Imani aspires to engage children and their parents to start a conversation around world culture and world history as well as generate understanding amongst humanity..

“It is vital that we supplement our children’s education with books like Naji and the mystery of the dig that talk about our world’s various countries and diverse cultures,” said Imani. “It was thrilling to write a book that helps children and adults enjoy moments of commonality amongst differences. Our world becomes more peaceful when we all experience joy together.”

To augment the educational aspect of his mystery novel, Imani has included a study section in the back of the book for parents and educators to encourage children to dig for more discoveries. To supplement the book, he has created a website that contains more engaging and educational information about Middle Eastern and Persian culture.
