Follow on Google News | Community Continues to Rally for Family of Baby with Life Threatening Birth DefectLocal families support family of baby with Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia
By: LADIES Collaborative When Savannah Hope Johansen was born on June 10, 2014, she did not have the opportunity to be held, lovingly, by her adoring mother and was instead immediately intubated and was under there the careful watch of UCSF doctors and support staff. Savannah Hope was born with Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH), a life threatening birth defect with no known cause that prevents the lungs from developing properly. Within her first three days, Savannah had extensive surgery to help correct the problem and she continues to fight to grow stronger and eventually breathe on her own. Although it has been and will likely continue to be an uphill battle, little Savannah continues to make significant progress while she heals. A collaborative of Tracy mothers have come together to support Baby Savannah Hope and her family through a series of fund raising events—including a garage sale last May that raised nearly $1,000. The LADIES Collaborative and Caterpillar Clubhouse is hosting a Bowling For Hope event on Saturday August 2 from 10am-12pm at West Valley Bowl Center located at 2365 East Street in Tracy, CA. Tickets range from $5 to $15 and all proceeds go to help the Johansen family. Event organizer, Dara Thomson says "I'm so excited for LADIES Collaborative and Caterpillar Clubhouse to come together and throw a fun family event to benefit a local baby girl. Savannah Hope is a beautiful baby, who has overcome so many obstacles. She's continuing to fight to survive, and we're here to help support her family any way we can” The event will include bowling, local vendors and fun for the whole family.” Tickets can be purchased http://bowlingforhope.eventbrite.com/? Donations can be made to the family through youcaring : www.youcaring.com/ You can follow Savannah Hope’s journey on her Prayers for Savannah Hope facebook page: www.facebook.com/ End
