HONOLULU - July 18, 2014 - PRLog -- This summer, Ballet Hawaii will present a full production of Peter Pan, featuring choreography by Septime Webre, artistic director of The Washington Ballet, for three performances only on Friday, August 8 at 7:30 pm, Saturday, August 9 at 7:30 pm, and Sunday, August 10 at 2:00 pm at Honolulu's Blaisdell Concert Hall. Take a high-flying adventure to Neverland with Septime Webre's dazzling Peter Pan! A swashbuckling coming of age tale that pits Peter and the Lost Boys against Captain Hook and his outrageous band of pirates, this whimsical adventure is told through vibrant dance. Peter Pan is a story about growing up that never seems to grow old. Returning to dance in the Ballet Hawaii shows are Luis R. Torres, Maki Onuki, Morgann Rose, Jonathan Jordan, and Derek Daniels, among many others.

In the words of Peter Pan, “Would you like an adventure now, or shall we have our tea first?” Be transported to Neverland with our magical tea party, taking place Sunday, August 3 at Mariposa in Neiman Marcus where Doug Jago and his NM design team will transform the space into a fantastical visual experience. Activities, delicious treats and photo ops with special Neverland guests add to the fun. Storyteller James McCarthy will engage you with his creative version of Peter Pan. About the Choreographer
Septime Webre (Artistic Director, Choreographer) was appointed artistic director of The Washington Ballet in June 1999 after six years as artistic director of American Repertory Ballet in New Jersey. Much in demand as a choreographer, he has created works that appear in the repertoires of many companies in North America, including Pacific Northwest Ballet, Les Grands Ballets Canadiens, North Carolina Dance Theatre, Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, Ballet Austin, Atlanta Ballet, Aspen Santa Fe Ballet, Cincinnati Ballet and Colorado Ballet, among many others. As a dancer, Mr. Webre was featured in works by George Balanchine, Paul Taylor, Antony Tudor, Alvin Ailey, and Merce Cunningham, as well as in principal and solo roles from the classical repertoire. Mr. Webre sits on the boards of Dance/USA, the Cultural Alliance of Greater Washington, the Advisory Committee of Dance/Metro DC, and has received the DC Mayor’s Arts Award for Visionary Leadership in the Arts as well as a number of fellowships for his choreography. Mr. Webre is the seventh son in a large Cuban-American family, and he graduated from the University of Texas with a B.A. in History/Pre-Law.
