Ward wins a national award for "More of Life's Spices, Seasoned Sistahs Keepin' It Real," an anthology that highlights the lives of extraordinary Africian American women who are over 50.
By: Nubian Images Publishing “I am absolutely thrilled,” says Ward. “I am especially pleased to have been chosen because I know the quality of the judging process.” There were 1500 entries in 60 categories. The winners were chosen by a panel of librarians and booksellers, after months of editorial deliberation. “Winners exemplify the best work coming from today’s indie authors and publishers,” Ward’s book is an anthology of life stories from remarkable African American women who are all over 50 years old. Other contributors to the work included Patricia Canterbury, Geri Hunter, Katherine Parker, Shakiri, Yolanda Bariel, Rochelle Robinson, and many others. Ward also edited and published the book through her company, Nubian Images Publishing. More of Life’s Spices is described as “a ‘sistah’ circle that speaks volumes to women…a gathering of women soulfully speaking authentic truths of joyful highs, and heart-wrenching trials. Their narratives deepen our belief that life events are universal for all women on life’s journey. Ward’s first anthology, “Life’s Spices From Seasoned Sistahs,” won the Silver Book of the Year Award from Foreword Reviews in 2005. Both of her books are available for purchase on www.Amazon.com and on her website at www.vickiward.com.
