Energy bills of energy efficient offices are 65% less thana typical office

Reducing room temperature by just 1°C can cut fuel consumption in a typical office by around 8% which equates to enough energy to print over 40 million sheets of A4 paper.

Upgrade existing equipment

New equipment with better energy efficiency ratings can lead to great savings.

Use low wattage lights
Slim line fluorescent tubes use 25% less electricity and compact fluorescent bulbs use 80% less energy than a tungsten bulb and last ten times longer.

Reduce draughts
Install self-adhesive thermal strips around doors and windows to reduce draughts. Draughts can account for up to 10% of heat loss.

Lower the thermostat
Ensure the office temperature is set at no more than 19°C.

Turn equipment off
Leaving equipment on standby mode uses up to 70% of normal power consumption.

Install daylight sensors
Install daylight sensors in order to maximise the use of daylight.

Electronics
Limit the use of Computers or Games Consoles.

Update heating controls
Change the heating controls so that the heating is only on in the building's occupation hours.

Don't let taps drip
Leaving a tap drip equates to nearly £2 for each cubic meter of water.

Computers & Monitors on standby
can reduce energy bills by £10 a year.
