Sadhguru has personally designed the statue. The same team of workers who sculpted the Nandi statue in the Ashram, the biggest steel statue, worked on the statue of Adiyogi also,’ a spokesperson at the Isha Yoga Centre said.
After unveiling the statue, the Guru puja was performed. This was followed by Sounds of Isha concert, Linga Bhairavi Procession, and MahiAtari. The programme concluded with a Stashing with Sad guru. The event was attended by close to 15000 people.
The event was web streamed at http://www.ishafoundation.org/
According to Sad guru, “The first full moon of Dakshinayana is Guru Pournami, when the Adiyogi actually started teaching, and when the first Guru was born. This is about transcendence and liberation, a possibility that human beings never knew, and still most do not know. It does not matter what your genetics are, who your father was, or what limitations you are born with or acquired, you can transcend all of that, “If you are willing to strive.”
Future plans include building four statues of the face of Adiyogi in four corners of the country. Each statue will be 112 feet tall.
Also on this day of Guru pournima, free Isha Kriya meditation sessions were conducted for all who visited Isha yoga centre.
