Thousands of loyal SkystreamX customers have been waiting in eager anticipation for the SkystreamX4 Quad Core Android TV Box. We spoke with Peter Mitchell, Co Owner of SkystreamX about the release of the SkystreamX4 Quad Core Android TV Box. We asked Peter what makes the SkystreamX4 different from other Android TV Boxes. “There are lots of different Android TV Boxes on the market today. So many that it can be confusing for customers to decide on what kind of Android TV Box to buy. Why is SkystreamX releasing the SkystreamX4 Quad Core Android TV Box to the market later then your competition? “That is a great question and I thank you for asking it. We could have released The SkystreamX4 Quad Core Android TV Box months ago, but we believe in releasing a quality finished product the first time. Many of our competitors rush to release a Quad Core Android TV Box first and when their customers are not happy they release endless firmware updates to try and fix major bugs. Here at SkystreamX we don’t feel that releasing a product that is 80% complete and making our customers perform endless time wasting updates is a good way to conduct business. Our lead programmer has been working tirelessly over the past 3 months to make the SkystreamX4 Quad Core Android TV Box perfect and up to our high standards.” You stated previously that both the Dual Core and Quad Core SkystreamX Android TV boxes are Plug and Play. What exactly does that mean? “When you buy an Android TV box from anywhere else besides SkystreamX you are getting a blank Android TV Box. You are then tasked with learning how to program it to do what you bought it to do which is watch TV, Movies and Live Sports. If you are not an android programmer you will spend countless hours searching Google learning how to install repositories, XBMC Add Ons, Setting XBMC’s Cache, and trying to configure Hardware decoding so that you can watch smooth HD Video. To the average person who is looking to simply cut their cable and be able to watch their favorite video content this is a daunting task. Here at SkystreamX we do all of this for you. Our Lead Programmers has over 8 years of experience with the Android Platform and XBMC. He has spent years learning how to program both Android and XBMC. He has spent countless hours perfecting both the Android 4.4 Kit Kat operating system and XBMC Gotham 13.1. What this means for our customers is that when they receive their SkystreamX4 Quad Core Android TV Box in the mail, they simply connect it to their TV, Plug it in, Connect the internet to the Android Box via Ethernet of Wi-Fi and begin watching video content in minutes. We have created the first and only plug and play Quad Core Android TV Box for the masses.” You claim that the SkystreamX4 is the world’s fastest Android TV Box. What powers the SkystreamX4 and gives you the ability to say it is the fastest Android TV Box on the market? “Like I said before there are lots of Quad Core Android TV Boxes on the market right now. 98% percent of these use Rockchip and Allwinner CPU’s which have both been plagued with problems since day one. Here at SkystreamX we only use AMLogic Chipsets because of the quality and speed that AMLogic packs into their chips. The CPU is the brain of any computer and if you start with an inferior brain you are never going to have a superior product. The SkystreamX4 comes with an AMLogic Quad Core CPU running at 2.0 GHz. This is faster than the average computer that is out there these days. We also use a Mali-450 Octa Core 3D Graphics processor. The Mali-450 is the top of the line graphic processor or GPU on the market today. Long story short we start with the highest quality internal components and then program our firmware to optimize the CPU, GPU and Android Firmware.” It sounds like SkystreamX is really big on quality and all about providing the customer with a seamless user experience. Lately I have seen lots of Android TV Boxes on local classified websites with individuals selling Programmed Android TV Boxes. What are your thoughts on these boxes? How do they compare with the SkystreamX and SkystreamX4? “There are lots of amateur programmers out there that use Installation Wizards to program their boxes. And while they may spend an hour on each box, they are just simply adding a few popular XBMC Addons and touting it as fully programmed. What they don’t tell you is that they are using a cheap knock off box from China; they are using the stock firmware that is full of bugs and that they offer no technical support. There are countless additional steps that need to be programmed in order to have an Android TV Box that is ready for primetime. If you do not customize the firmware properly and install XBMC properly you are going to run into problems. We get calls and emails everyday with people asking us to help them fix the Android TV Box they just bought from some guy at a gas station. As much as we like helping people we cannot help fix inferior products with inferior firmware. The old saying is you get what you pay for.
