Set to officially launch both online and in print, July 19, 2014, at The Meropa Casino in Limpopo, The Bold Magazine is the first FREE Black lifestyle and entertainment magazine in Africa.
The Bold Magazine embodies its name; it engulfs readers with brave, edgy original content chosen purely for its ability to manifest growth and self-expression. The magazines’ mission is to fill a void in the African media world.
The Bold’s aim is to celebrate and voice the accomplishments of Africans and to uplift, educate and entertain ordinary people who otherwise would not be reached via other paid publications.
Initial circulation will be 5,000 at major malls, garages and local supermarkets in and around Johannesburg and Limpopo. The target market is people within the 21 - 51 age groups.
Readers can expect to find in-depth articles and columns pertaining to current affairs, fashion, entertainment, education, career advancement, health & fitness and much more. Content will be factual and not related to gossip.
Shatadi Matlou, the Founder of the magazine, has faced many challenges in regards to funding and finding staff that were willing to work voluntarily. Even though the inception of the magazine was May 2013, printing had to be postponed due to lack of sponsors because the magazines source of revenue is advertising and sponsorships. The team at The Bold are a dynamic group of people who have contributed greatly by investing their skill, time and energy to ensure its’ success.
The Meropa Casino in Polokwane, Limpopo, sponsors the official launch on July 19, 2014. The guest list boasts local designers, celebrities and important business people. The event will serve as an introduction to the management and editorial team and a networking opportunity, which is pertinent to the growth and exposure of the magazine.
Guests can look forward to VIP seating and refreshments as they are entertained by a fashion show from local designers.
