CARNEYS POINT, N.J. - July 16, 2014 - PRLog -- SCC accepting students for new Process Operator Technology program

Salem Community College is launching a Process Operator Technology program this fall to prepare students for immediate employment as process technicians in a variety of industries.  It is the only program of its kind in southern New Jersey.

After earning an associate in applied science degree, SCC graduates will possess the skills to work in the petrochemical, chemical, pharmaceutical and food industries.

Eligible students may qualify for paid summer internships at the nearby Paulsboro Refining Co.

“The Paulsboro Refinery is pleased to have partnered with Salem Community College to develop the new Process Operator Technology program,” said Steve Krynski, Refinery Manager. “We feel the creation of this 62-credit associate degree deepens an already mutually beneficial partnership as it offers college graduates the educational requirements for well-paying careers in industries such as refining and gives the Refinery a pool of educated applicants from which it can recruit.”

To learn more about Process Operator Technology, students may attend the SCC Open House on Wednesday, July 30 at 6 p.m. in Contini Hall on the Carneys Point Campus.  A Paulsboro Refinery representative is scheduled to attend to discuss employment opportunities in the field.

“The Open House will be a great opportunity to learn about SCC’s unique programs that lead to jobs,” said Dean of Enrollment Management Kevin Catalfamo.

To register for the Open House, visit www.salemcc.edu.  Students may also call (856) 351-2716 to schedule a meeting with an Enrollment Services advisor.
