Author Cheryl Peyton to Speak at Kingston Library

KINGSPORT, Tenn. - July 15, 2014 - PRLog -- Cheryl Peyton will be the guest speaker at the Kingston Library's "Thursday Night at the Library on July 24th at 6:00 p.m.  The library is located at 1004 Bradford Way.

Ms. Peyton will be discussing her four books, with particular attention to her thriller, "Six Minutes to Midnight," set in Oak Ridge.  In this action-packed novel, the reader is drawn into the high-stakes world of the federal agents who escort shipments of nuclear weapons and enriched uranium transported by semi-tractor trailers on the nation's highways.  The story follows the exploits of female courier Dana Knowles who crosses paths with a killer by the name of Albert Arnstein, whom she unwittingly snubs, thereby enraging him.  The psychopathic Arnstein vows to seek revenge by stealing a nuclear weapon with other misfits who have their own reasons to strike back at society.  While the plan is being hatched, an Ohio detective is closing in on Arnstein for a ten-year-old murder. The action comes to a climax during a convoy trip to Kings Bay Naval Submarine Base in St. Marys, Georgia.

Ms. Peyton has also written two cozy mysteries featuring thirty-ish tour operator Alex Trotter as she takes groups to diverse destinations like an historic inn on an isolated island off the coast of Georgia, and a cruise to the Bermuda.

The author's fourth book is a true-life novel titled, "Walk on Through the Rain," about two-year old Jeannie Erickson who contracts paralytic polio in the summer of 1946 while living in Minneapolis with her family.  The story describes the panic due to the many seasonal epidemics that caused parents to keep their children away from parks, playgrounds and public swimming pools. Primarily, It is the heartwarming story of Jeannie's courage and high spirits, her loving family, and her skilled doctor who saw her through some nineteen surgeries to lead a full and active life.
