Diamonds All-Stars Partners with Sonic for Ice Cream Socials

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - July 15, 2014 - PRLog -- Shine, Diamonds All-Stars' senior coed level three competitive cheer team, will hold Ice Cream Socials from 5 to 8 p.m., Monday, July 21, Aug. 11 and Aug. 25 at the Sonic Drive-In located in Karns at 7816 Oak Ridge Highway, Knoxville.

The Sonic location will donate ten percent of all sales during that time to Shine, whose athletes hope to travel to competitions as far away as Indianapolis, Ind.; Orlando, Fla.; and Virginia Beach, Va, in the 2014-15 season.

"It's cool that Sonic is doing this. I'm really excited to work with them because it's going to be a lot of fun," Abbi Firment, Shine cheerleader, said.

Michael Harmon, operating partner for the Sonic location in Karns, said the fundraisers are, "Sonic's way of giving back to the kids. It's a good thing."

This isn't the first fundraiser for this Sonic location. They've previously partnered with local schools, churches and non-profits to raise money for kids in similar events. In addition, they've donated hundreds of coupon cards for kids to sell to raise money for their organization. These coupon cards, which offer $28 in savings, will be available for purchase for $5 at Shine's Ice Cream Socials.

He said he is happy to be able to support local kids, including the Diamonds All-Stars team.

"We're more of a neighborhood type of Sonic, and we see these kids all the time," he added.
