Follow on Google News | Jon Edmonds Takes the Lead as the First Executive Director for Movement Day Greater DallasMovement Day Greater Dallas continues to grow and move, announcing the hiring of its first executive director, Jon Edmonds, effective June 1, 2014.
By: Movemenat Day Greater Dallas Edmonds recently served as the executive director of Austin Street Center, an emergency homeless shelter, church and transitional housing campus. Jon is the founder and principal of Higher Level Development, LLC, a business consulting and real estate development firm and is the past president & CEO of Frazier Revitalization, Inc., the non-profit development catalyst of the Frazier neighborhood of Dallas. He is also the past president & CEO of the Foundation for Community Empowerment (FCE), also in Dallas. Prior to coming to Dallas, Mr. Edmonds was the president of the Indianapolis Neighborhood Housing Partnership in Indianapolis, IN. He has been married to his wife, Lois, for 36 years and serves as an Elder and bible teacher at the 9,000 member Concord Church in Dallas. A former Citibank commercial loan officer and small business owner, Edmonds now has more than twenty five years of experience in community economic development. Over several years, Jon has managed grant making, capacity building, business location, training programs and the creation and administration of single and multi-family affordable mortgage lending programs. In 1989 he created the first ever comprehensive home ownership training and counseling system in Indianapolis for which he was awarded the President William Jefferson Clinton HUD Homeownership Partnership Award in 1995-96. Movement Day, an initiative of The New York City Leadership Center, has become one of the fastest growing and most influential gatherings of urban ministry leaders in the United States. Last October, the fourth Movement Day in New York was hosted by Dr. Mac Pier, CEO of The New York City Leadership Center, in collaboration with Redeemer City to City and co-hosted by American Bible Society . In January 2014, the first Movement Day Greater Dallas was held and attracted 1,400 of the area’s most distinguished leaders who assembled from a wide variety of churches, agencies and organizations throughout the city. It was the first effort to replicate the successful New York model in another major urban center. Since that time, people in collaborative groups have continued to meet and work together to bring city transformation through a gospel movement to the area.
