Heart Songs for Veterans Launches at Nashville Benefit ConcertSarah Buxton honors Wounded Warrior and Vietnam Veteran’s Service Dog
Buxton, along with Heart Songs for Veterans founder, Jill Pavel presented Wounded Warrior SGT Eric Hunter with the Heart Songs Veteran of the Year Award. SGT Hunter is a U.S. Army soldier who was patrolling in Afghanistan on May 21st, 2012 when he stepped on an IED. He was severely injured resulting in the loss of his right leg and is still undergoing multiple surgeries to save his left leg. SGT Hunter performed on stage with Heart Songs for Veteran & AMP artist Sam French (Atlanta, GA). Buxton also presented an award to Vietnam Veteran Mark Berry (Caanan, New Hampshire) and his Service Dog “Naya” during the evening’s festivities. Over 400 attended the show that evening which featured notable Heart Songs artists Justine Blazer (Nashville), Laura Mann (Philadelphia) Heart Songs for Veterans is a community of artists who donate their new song releases. The artist roster currently hosts artists primarily in the Country and Rock arena. The proceeds from the song releases are then paid forward to Veteran and Wounded Warrior organizations across the nation. The innovative programming was designed to promote awareness and funding for Veteran and Wounded Warrior organizations and provide scholarships and grants to help garner education and job opportunities in the music industry. The Veteran inspired company was founded in November 2013 by Jill Pavel who has worked in the music industry in the capacity of management and digital media distribution.
