ULLSWATER, U.K. - July 14, 2014 - PRLog -- Lake District Estates’ businesses, Ullswater ‘Steamers’ and the holiday parks Hill of Oaks (Windermere), Buck Yeats Lodge Park (Newby Bridge), Woodclose Park (Kirkby Lonsdale) and Waterfoot Park (Pooley Bridge) all now offer an online donation opt in button, which allows those booking tickets or holidays to donate an minimum sum of £1 to Nurture Lakeland. With Gift Aid, this can increase to at least £1.25.

Hill of Oaks’ donations will go to the Experience the River and Love your Lakes projects, which support South Cumbria Rivers Trust working with local schoolchildren, teaching them about river habitats and the creatures living beneath them. Love your Lakes promotes use of phosphate free products in order to clean up Windermere and protect the fragile lake ecology.

Waterfoot Park’s donations will be directed towards the protection of red squirrels and the preservation of footpaths, while Woodclose Park will be supporting the Warton Crag Project – an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty which is home to lots of rare and beautiful butterflies living in a bluebell and limestone-rich landscape.

Ullswater ‘Steamers’ online donations will support Penrith Red Squirrels and the fare donation on the Howtown walk will continue to support vital repair and conservation work to footpath repair in the valley.

Ullswater ‘Steamers’ was one of the first businesses to support Lake District conservation through Nurture Lakeland in its early days since 1998. Ten pence per cruise fare between Howtown and Pooley Bridge or Glenridding has been donated to Nurture Lakeland on an annual basis.

Ullswater ‘Steamers’ marketing manager, Rachel Bell, says: "We are delighted to have this new means of raising sums for conservation through Nurture Lakeland across several of our businesses. We are sure many of our customers will be keen to donate to important conservation projects
