Haiyan Grzelak Receives Teacher Award
NEWINGTON, Conn. - July 11, 2014 - PRLog -- Haiyan Grzelak just received “Teacher of the Year” award at the Chinese Cultural Center on the grounds of CCSU where she taught Chinese to a class of students ranging in age from 11 – 50. She attributes the increase in demand to learn Chinese as a result of more US companies doing trade with China since China is one of the fastest growing countries economically. In addition, parents of students who are half Chinese want their children to learn the language for cultural and genealogical reasons as well as for possible educational and career advancement in the future. Haiyan also taught Chinese privately as a tutor.

Haiyan finds her skills and knowledge are also in demand by US companies having offices in China. The US executives realize they must learn the business traditions as well as some of the business language in addition to the customs. Haiyan has done private consulting work for such executives in the Hartford, CT area.

At CCSU, as an adjunct professor in International Marketing, Haiyan taught multicultural strategies for developing global markets and products. She attributes some of her success to having an Executive MBA from UCONN School of Business and over decades of progressive international experience gained through marketing management positions held inthe corporate world within China and the United States.

Haiyan said, “Teaching Chinese is a type of therapy that delivers knowledge and culture. It is also a process to improve students’ self esteem enabling them to be ready for global opportunities. Knowledge delivered and received in an interactive relaxing environment will resonate.”
