The US executives realize they must learn the business traditions as well as some of the business language in addition to the customs. Haiyan has done private consulting work for such executives in the Hartford, CT area. At CCSU, as an adjunct professor in International Marketing, Haiyan taught multicultural strategies for developing global markets and products. She attributes some of her success to having an Executive MBA from UCONN School of Business and over decades of progressive international experience gained through marketing management positions held inthe corporate world within China and the United States. Haiyan said, “Teaching Chinese is a type of therapy that delivers knowledge and culture. It is also a process to improve students’ self esteem enabling them to be ready for global opportunities. Knowledge delivered and received in an interactive relaxing environment will resonate.” Background- Haiyan Grzelak, originally from Beijing, China, earned her B.S. Degree from Jilin University in China and her Executive MBA from the UCONN School of Business. Haiyan informs audiences through the art of music and cultural presentations. She is a Certified Tea Master from China and has performed the authentic Tea Ceremony at public functions such as Yale CASPY, Coffee and Tea Festival in NYC and World Tea East in Philadelphia. Haiyan is a Guzheng musician having studied under two Guzheng Masters in China. She released a music CD in 2012 called “Sounds of the Lotus: Hope Love Joy”.
