Bahne are indelibly linked to the roots of skating as we know it. One of the original skateboarding companies in 70’s America, they were instrumental in the re-birth of the sport, bringing it to the masses through major contests, demos and regular features in Skateboarder magazine. Along with Cadillac Wheels, Bahne sponsored the iconic Del Mar Nationals competition in 1975 which saw the Dogtown Z-Boys make their spectacular impact with a new, freer form of skating. The skate world never looked back.
Tony Hawk’s first ever board was a Bhane, given to him by his brother when he was nine. Hawk kept the board throughout his rise to fame and finally parted with it in June 2013 by donating it to the famous US museum The Smithsonian Institution, where you can still see it on display today.
The brand has an appealing laid-back California vibe and is making a great presence for itself in the UK market. Elevate Distribution, based in the UK’s unofficial skate and surf capital of Cornwall, have exclusive distribution rights throughout the UK. “We've had a great reaction and really strong support from UK retailers”, said Elevate's David Jones. “The fact that it is a heritage brand carries a lot of weight.”
The current Bahne range comprises complete longboards and cruisers made from either maple or bamboo and featuring strong graphics and the distinctive Bahne logo. RRPs range from £69 to £109.
