Public asked to help plan future development of Clare County Capital

Clare County Council is urging the general public to have their voice heard in relation to the formulation of a 6-year social and economic development plan for Ennis and surrounding areas.

ENNIS, Ireland - July 10, 2014 - PRLog -- Clare County Council is urging the general public to have their voice heard in relation to the formulation of a 6-year social and economic development plan for Ennis and surrounding areas.

The new Ennis and Environs Local Area Plan 2015-2021 will guide the development of the Clare county capital and its environs in terms of economic development, recreational and community requirements, as well as residential, retail, transport and infrastructural needs. A draft of the Plan is due to be completed by the end of 2014.

Community groups, individuals and stakeholders are encouraged to make written submissions or observations no later than 4 p.m. on Tuesday 29th July 2014.

Gordon Daly, Senior Planner with Clare County Council explained: “The Local Area Plan will seek to guide and facilitate the future growth and economic and social development of Ennis. Therefore, it is vitally important that the Council receives the input from all sectors of the community."

He added: “The overarching aim of the new Plan will be to continue to grow Ennis and its Environs in a well-planned and sustainable way, providing a good quality of life for those who reside and work in the town and an enjoyable experience for those visiting it.”

Mr. Daly confirmed there also will be an opportunity later in the process for the public to further express their views and make additional submissions.

An illustration of the proposed indicative boundary of the area of the Draft Ennis and Environs Local Area Plan 2015-2021 may be inspected on the Council’s website http://www.clarecoco.ie. Copies are also available for inspection at Áras Contae an Chláir and at DeValera Library in Ennis during normal working hours up to Tuesday 29th July 2014.

In making submissions and observations (two copies), individuals should state their name, address and, where relevant, the body represented. Submissions or observations should be addressed to: Planning & Enterprise Department, Clare County Council, Áras Contae an Chláir, New Road, Ennis, Co. Clare. As this is a public consultation process, submissions may be made available for public viewing and consequently personal details such as address, email address, and phone number should be submitted on a separate sheet accompanying the submission or observation

Alternatively, submissions may also be emailed to forwardplan@clarecoco.ie (maximum document size by e-mail: 4MB) or may be faxed to 065-6892071.
