Follow on Google News | EU Commission Restricts Three Flame Retardants under Toy Safety DirectiveThe Toy Safety Directive 2009/48/EC has recently been amended to include the restriction of three flame retardants in certain toys. The new law will take effect on 21 December 2015.
New Flame Retardants Restricted On 21 June 2014, Directive 2014/79/EU was published in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU) to restrict three flame retardants under the TSD. The three flame retardants are: - Tris (2-Chloroethyl) - Tris (2-Chloro-1- - Tris [2-Chloro-1-( The flame retardant TCEP is also known to be used as a plasticizer in polymers. To accommodate the new requirements, Member States must transpose the Directive into their National Laws by 21 December 2015. The enforcement date for the new law will be 21 December 2015.
