New do-it-yourself technology allows homeowners to pro-tect themselves

New wireless technology has lead to a fully monitored DIY burglar and intruder alarm system being developed, enabling homeowners to instantly protect themselves, their families and their property around-the-clock.

BRADFORD, U.K. - July 9, 2014 - PRLog -- Developed by Pro-tect in West Yorkshire, the new alarm system called HomeAlert takes less than 30 minutes to install but provides the user with a complete monitored alarm, which can also detect for smoke and carbon monoxide.

HomeAlert works using two-way audio monitoring, which protects the user’s privacy but allows a central monitoring station to react within seconds of an alarm being activated.

Two-way audio monitoring is relatively new in the UK and effectively works by opening up a communication channel through the alarm’s hub, which connects automatically to a secure UK-based monitoring station.

“In the event of an alarm being triggered, the user can talk to a central control room through the alarm system, whilst at the same time allowing the monitoring staff to listen in, react and talk to those on the premises.” Stated Pro-tect’s Group Head of Research and Development, Anthony Carney.

Although there are a number of DIY burglar alarm systems on the market, a spokesperson for Pro-tect believes at this time HomeAlert is the only system that reacts in real-time by calling the owner, a key holder, or if needed the emergency services.

“Other alarm systems will alert the owner by sending them a text. But this method has little affect if the homeowner is out of the country or at work.

“With HomeAlert a person will ring you, or a pre-agreed key holder to advise that the alarm has been triggered. And in extreme cases call the emergency services.” Added Anthony.

Howard Mann, Pro-tect’s Operations Manager stated: “The development of HomeAlert came about after it was recognised that people in the UK were looking to be more hands-on when it came to their homes, particular in the area of DIY.

“HomeAlert enables them to be involved in protecting their loved ones and their property, whilst providing them with a dependable and reliable alarm system that reacts to home emergencies.”

Launched at the beginning of July, HomeAlert retails at less than £200.00 for the unit, with a monthly monitoring fee of just £9.99.  The standard package comes complete with a Pro-tect Alarm System, the hub, an Alarm Control Fob / Panic Button, Burglar Alarm Motio Detectors with fixings, Intruder Alarm Door Contact with fixings, Telephone Cable, Mains Cable, Double Door Connector, Easy-to-use installation instructions and 12 month warranty.
