Skydive for a Cure III... The Fight against Lou Gehrigs Disease

Volunteer skydivers, first-time skydivers or experienced skydivers welcome, Raise money through sponsors and Skydive at an Amazing, unique, 1 of a kind skydiving Festival, all to raise money and join the fight against ALS

PRLog - Jul. 9, 2014 - CHURCHVILLE, Md. -- On September 6th, 2014, Skydive for a Cure III will take place in Beautiful Harford County, Maryland. Skydive for a Cure is a re-occurring Skydiving fundraiser, designed to raise funds to support the growing research initiatives in the hopes of one day, finding a cure for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis ( ALS ), better known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease. ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. Motor neurons reach from the brain to the spinal cord and from the spinal cord to the muscles throughout the body. The progressive degeneration of the motor neurons in ALS eventually leads to the patients death. When the motor neurons die, the ability of the brain to initiate and control muscle movement is lost. With voluntary muscle action progressively affected, patients in the later stages of the disease may become totally paralyzed. ALS eventually causes the patient to lose the ability to swallow, talk and breathe. Death from ALS usually occurs 2-5 years after diagnosis. It is ALWAYS FATAL and there is no known cure or treatment.

No experience is required to skydive at this festival and first-time skydivers are encouraged. All skydivers will tandem skydive with a professional skydiver. Any persons wishing to register to skydive at this event is encouraged to visit www.skydive4als.com to register. The fundraiser works similar to a Relay for Life run, in which the participants, in this case, tandem skydivers, raise money through donations in order to participate and skydive at the event. The jump fee for each skydiver is included in the minimum funds goal of $250 per skydiver. A $50 deposit per skydiver is required to register, to reserve and secure a jump spot at this event.

There is much more to this event than just 100 volunteer skydivers landing into the dropzone throughout the day. At the dropzone is an amazing event, that has been organized and developed through 3 previous event experiences. There will be live music, amazing food vendors, ice cream and Funnel Cake vendors, raffles with cash and other prizes, money wheels, cornhole and beer pong tournaments with cash prizes, moonbounces ( for adults and kids ), carnival games and new to this years event, inflatable boxing and jousting arenas! All happening while the crowd of spectators and party-goers cheer on the 100+ skydivers landing right into the party all day long.  This event is a Bring your own Alcohol event. Its free admission for any one who is not skydiving! There will be face painting and activities for the Kiddo's as well!

I created this fundraiser after I lost my father to this disease in May of 2013. All proceeds from these fundraisers are donated to the Brigance Brigade Foundation. Online donations are accepted, also, skydiver donors can support family and friends who are skydiving by donating online for their perspective skydiver by visiting www.skydive4als.com today!
