Palm Coast, FL – The Alzheimer’s Resource Council, along with Visiting Angels, will offer a free memory screening at Visiting Angels in Palm Coast on July 17th, 2014 from 2pm to 5pm.

“Anyone that thinks they may be having memory issues is invited to have a free memory screening,” said President of The Alzheimer’s Resource Council, and Director/Co-Owner of Visiting Angels Medwin Nazif.

The screenings will be available from 2pm to 5pm on the 17th and attendees are asked to make an appointment by calling 386-446-7874. The screening will be held at Visiting Angels in Palm Coast, located at 185 Cypress Point Parkway, Suite #5 (across from WalMart).

Alzheimer’s is a type of dementia that causes problems with memory, thinking and behavior. Symptoms usually develop slowly and worsen over time, becoming severe enough to interfere with daily tasks. Alzheimer's disease accounts for 50 to 80 percent of dementia cases, with the majority of people diagnosed being 65 years old and older.

The Alzheimer’s Resource Council of Flagler County, a 501C3 non – profit organization, was established in September 2008 for purpose of providing services and support to Flagler County residents affected by Alzheimer’s disease and other memory disorders. Since October 2008, the council has been conducting support groups for patients and caregivers. These groups are facilitated by master level social workers who have knowledge and expertise with both memory disorders and the challenges of being a caregiver.

The Alzheimer’s Resource Council also sponsors educational workshops. Presenters from many different backgrounds share information and help families develop plans and techniques to better care for themselves as well as their loved ones.

Celebrating their 11-year anniversary this year, Visiting Angels was founded by Medwin Nazif and Stephanie Kirejevas in 2003. Medwin has served on the Board of Directors of the Alzheimer's Association for several years and currently serves on the board of the Alzheimer's Resource Council, which he co-founded.  He is also a founder of the "Serving Our Seniors" networking group that educates and shares resources for the senior population. Visiting Angels is a senior home care company that assists families in St. Johns, Volusia and Flagler Counties with all their senior home care service needs such as respite care for caregivers, general companionship, and care for individuals with Alzheimer's or dementia.

Visiting Angels is located at 185 Cypress Point Parkway, Suite #5 in Palm Coast. They can be reached at 386-446-7848, or online at http://www.visitingangels.com/palmcoast/home or https://www.facebook.com/VisitingAngelsofNEFL.
