Nearly 1500 Runners and Over 20 Community Sponsors Participated in the 36th Annual Run in the Parks

ORANGE COUNTY, Calif. - July 8, 2014 - PRLog -- The 36th annual YMCA Run in the Parks was held on Friday, July 4, 2014. 1462 individuals ran in the 10K, 5K, and Kid's races held in the Crown Valley Community Park and Laguna Niguel Regional Parks.  Thousands of families from around the community were in attendance cheering on their loved ones, enjoying the pancake breakfast and celebrating with their neighbors.  Over 100 volunteers and Y staff members were there to support this annual tradition.

“Each year, the proceeds from the event directly benefit the children and families in the Laguna Niguel community through scholarships and membership at the Y. It is wonderful to see the community come together and support our cause of providing invaluable, life-enriching experiences to all children and families,” says Jennifer Heinen, Executive Director for the Laguna Niguel Family YMCA.

The event was started 36 years ago in 1978 by residents who wanted to improve the fitness of the community and highlight nonprofit work. One of the race founders, Bill Pasqual, is still a participant in the race today and has not missed a race as either a volunteer or runner since it started.
