Ventura Harbor's 9th Annual Pirate Days Festival

July 9, 2014 - PRLog -- Grab yer doubloons and set sail to Ventura “Aarghbor” Village for the 9th Annual Pirate Days Festival on Saturday& Sunday, July 19 & 20, from 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Ventura Harbor Pirate Days is one of Ventura’s most popular public festivals that attracts “pirates” of all ages who come dressed for swashbuckling fun. This year’s theme is “Hook, Jack, and Tinker” with the introduction of Tinker Bell (look-a-like) for kids to meet and greet. Also new this year are a Pirate Wedding on Saturday at 11:15am at the Carousel Stage, Lunch with the Pirates at The Greek at the Harbor at 11:45am (both days), the Reece Ryan Kids’ On-Land Pirate Ship, and a #PirateSelfie Instagram contest for a chance to win $100 in Ventura Harbor Village gift cards.

  Festival goers will meet enchanting mermaids and famous pirate re-enactors, including Captain Jack Sparrow and Captain Hook.  Mateys strolling through the Pirate Marketplace can spend time at Port Royal Privateers’ historical encampment or visit unique vendor booths to find precious wares, such as woodcrafts, pirate attire, jewelry, handcrafted glass and metal gifts and nautical-themed loot.

The fun continues throughout Ventura Harbor Village where children, tweens and adults dressed to impress can strut their stuff in the daily costume contests at 2:30pm (0-7 yrs.),  2:45pm (8-15 yrs.), and 3:30pm (16+ yrs.) for a chance to win tickets to Six Flags Magic Mountain, Hurricane Harbor, Knott’s Berry Farm, or Legoland.  On Saturday at 3pm piratey pets will vie for a gift basket filled with pet goodies.

Wee ones will enjoy the Mermaid Treasure Hunt ($2) and free activities at galleries.  Treasure seekers can find pirate merchandise, pirate hats, swords, gifts, eye patches, flags, & gear at Village shops. For grog and grub, hungry crews can choose from a variety of cuisines at Village Restaurants. Live music and entertainment provided by Ship of Fools (Sat.), The Pirate Charles (Sun.), and Pirates for Hire (daily professional pirate shows).

  Admission, parking and shuttle buses are free. Pirate Days shuttle parking is located at Schooner Drive and Harbor Blvd. or Schooner Drive and Anchors Way Drive both Saturday and Sunday from Noon – 5:00 PM.  Catch the Downtown – Harbor Trolley from Downtown, Seaward Ave., or at participating hotels for a FREE ride to the festival (best to get on the trolley early).  The Ventura Harbor Village is located 1583 Spinnaker Drive off of Harbor Blvd.
