Save the Date: A Christmas Story Gala to benefit the Western Stage

July 8, 2014 - PRLog -- SALINAS, Calif. – Saturday, November 22, 2014, the Hartnell College Foundation hosts its Ninth Annual Western Stage Gala featuring a special holiday performance of A Christmas Story at 411 Central Avenue, Salinas, California. This special event is a fundraiser to benefit the Western Stage and its community outreach programs.

“During anniversaries and holidays our thoughts naturally turn nostalgic. This year with the combination of a yearlong celebration of our 40th Anniversary culminating in the performance of A Christmas Story and the memories evoked by that holiday favorite, we are feeling especially nostalgic here at The Western Stage. Even as we look back at all we have accomplished, we are focused on the future and what we can do to make further contributions to the educational and cultural advancement of our community across social and economic lines. Please join us on November 22nd at our 9th annual Gala to help us to achieve our goals for the future. It is an anniversary celebration and a holiday treat! We look forward to seeing you there.”

The evening will start at 5:30 p.m. with a strolling dinner, a hosted full bar with local wines and specialty drinks, an assortment of desserts, silent auction, and culminating with the musical, A Christmas Story.   The Gala will take place at Hartnell College Performing Arts, Building K.

Theater has the power to bring communities together.  Thus the theme of Jean Shepherd’s musical A Christmas Story, with music and lyrics by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, this delightful holiday musical based on the 1980’s film, is filled with happiness and humor celebrating childhood innocence and the joy that brings connects us to one another.
