“One of biggest trends we see are knits that look like denim. Knitters and spinners are starting to experiment with indigo dyes and various washing techniques. Some of the more advanced knitters are even using these techniques on wool,” said the style team at SPINEXPO.
Another key trend is mohair, used alone or in blends, for a hand-made look.
“Mohair has a very soft hand feel and retains dyes well, both of which are important as consumers continue to favor softer garments and are starting embrace a wider color palette,” said the SPINEXPO style team.
There has been explosion of color on the international catwalks. Vibrant colors, from jewel tones to rich earthy shades, as well as neons, are taking market share from traditional black and neutrals. “Getting color right can be key to creating a collection that sells,” said the SPINEXPO team. “For autumn/winter ’15-16 we’ve developed eight palettes that reflect the movement of color in knitwear.”
Called ‘Sensing the Motion’, the full palettes will be on display at autumn/winter sessions of SPINEXPO in both New York (July 15-17) and Shanghai (September 2-4).
