Meijer Supermarkets Hire Sinatra Impersonator Michael Carluccio to Entertain 300 Sales Directors

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - July 7, 2014 - PRLog -- Grand Rapids, MI - Located inside the DeVos Performance Hall is the 2404-seat performing arts theater that is home to The Grand Rapids Symphony, The Grand Rapids Ballet Company, Broadway Grand Rapids and Opera Grand Rapids. The DeVos Performance Hall has hosted concerts including the Frank Sinatra impersonator, Michael Carluccio, B.B. King, Barenaked Ladies, James Taylor, Tori Amos and Harry Connick, Jr.; comedians such as Jerry Seinfeld, Bill Cosby and Ron White; and family shows including Dora The Explorer Live, Bear in The Big Blue House Live, Blue’s Clues Live and Thomas & Friends Live.

A former Detroit newspaper employee and music critic, Dennis Nazelli, labeled the James Bond look-a-like as “The Man with a Thousand Voices” using a ‘rat-packish’ devil-may-care, swingin-rock-n-rollin' style.” Carluccio has appeared in front of Hollywood’s elite at the Golden Apple Awards, the Las Vegas MGM Grand, the Skyview Terrace and Tropicana stages, the St. Louis Fox Theater, New York’s Central Park Amphitheater and the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center and the Andiamo’s Night Club in Michigan.

The Sinatra impersonator has been spotted on stage by several movie producers.  Michael Carluccio can thank his Las Vegas tribute show that landed him the starring role in the independent film shot in Detroit, Michigan.  Michael Carluccio is no stranger to the big screen.  This is the first major role taking on the character of Vic, an abusive alcoholic in Joe Hart’s psycho-thriller, “Hair of the Dog.”

Filmed entirely in the motor city, using recognizable landmarks and some that aren’t so recognizable, like the Friends Cocktail Lounge in northwest Detroit, Dark Lamp Productions plans to present its first full-length, major film to the Sundance and Toronto Film Festivals by 2015.

Meijer was founded as Meijer's in Greenville, Michigan by Hendrik Meijer, a Dutch immigrant. Meijer was a local barber who entered the grocery business during the Great Depression. His first employees included his 14-year-old son, Frederik Meijer, who later became chairman of the company. The current co-chairmen, brothers Hank and Doug Meijer, are Hendrik's grandsons. After studying trends in the grocery industry, Meijer was among the first stores to offer self-service shopping and shopping carts. He also offered staple items, such as vinegar, at bargain prices.
