PRLog - Jul. 3, 2014 - EDINBURGH, U.K. -- Laura Gavin releases her new Kindle Singles length short story, The Marvellous Cakery, on Amazon. Available to buy in e-publishing format from Wednesday 9th July, it tells the story of Ms. Cake, a baker and fairy godmother-wannabe who has a habit of spiking her customers' cakes with well-meaning magic. Her assistant Lacey is the only one who knows about her secret ingredient, or the way Ms.Cake feels about Fred, the bookish cafe owner across the street.
The Marvellous Cakery
But the gossip mongers of small town Spinningham are about to get a treat. Because when Ms Cake's meddling goes awry, the Marvellous Cakery and its owner start down a path of very sticky self-destruction.
The author notes: “It's part modern fairytale, part kitsch romcom. It's about someone who wants to help, like the good fairies of the old tales, but ends up messing with other people's lives in ways she doesn't appreciate, until it's almost too late.”
Laura has written for arts magazines such as Edinburgh Festivals magazine and LeftLion, had fiction published online and read at the Edinburgh International Book Festival, but this is her first foray into self-publishing.
