Waste Oil and Oil Fuel Recycling

BAYVILLE, N.J. - July 3, 2014 - PRLog -- At Universal Recycling & Scrap Iron Corp. we exercise extreme caution when it comes to handling our waste oil and fuel. Especially being located in the heart of  The Pine Barrens, less than a mile away from Double Trouble State Park. The park's wilderness provides a unique insight into the Pine Barrens ecosystem in which we share. The Double Trouble Historic Village was originally a cranberry farm and packing plant. The village consists of cranberry bogs and fourteen restored historic structures dating from the late 19th century through the early 20th century. Cedar Creek that runs through the park leads to the mouth of the Barnegat Bay. Cedar Creek provides the water needed for cranberry culture and provides a source of water for wildlife.

With an extensive understanding of the waste oil and fuel recycling process and the adverse affects of not doing so, we adhere to strict policies and procedures during this process. All oils and fuels are recycled in accordance with local, state and federal regulations.

We keep our machinery, equipment, containers and tanks in good working condition and are always very careful when transferring used motor oil and fuel to our tanks for recycling. Having spill kits and clean-up materials, such as rags or sand, readily available aids us in containing any accidental spills.

It is unfortunate, but oil and fuel spills do happen. When they do and absorbent materials or products are used to clean it up, those oil-contaminated solids must also be disposed of properly.

According to the National Oil Recyclers Association, over 2 billion gallons of used oil are generated each year. Approximately 800 million gallons are recycled through a managed energy recovery system and approximately 500 million gallons are improperly discarded. One gallon of oil that has been improperly disposed of has the potential to contaminate one million gallons of fresh water.
