LONDON - July 3, 2014 - PRLog -- Tummy tuck surgery is an invasive cosmetic procedure that is suitable for only those patients who have excessive protruding skin and fat from the abdominal wall. The surgery is more common among women, as with the ideal condition of the sagging abdominal skin is associated with pregnancy and child birth that is impossible to flatten with diet and exercise. Men are also treated with it, of them who have had massive weight loss or just have the typical protrusion of the skin due age or genetic conditions.

There are altogether 3types of tummy tuck surgery to meet with various conditions of patients: Full Tummy Tuck, Mini Tummy Tuck and the new one, Endoscopic Tummy Tuck.

1.       Full tummy tuck

This is the procedure at its fullest form. Full tummy tuck is applied to patients of the extreme conditions of sagging skin and fat in their abdominal region and when the full abdominal area needs attention.

It works closer till the deep layer of fascia or abdominal wall in order to tighten it and temporarily detaching the belly button from the skin. Long incisions are involved usually from one end of the tummy to the other and/or from the vertically from the pubic line to the belly button.

This is performed under general anaesthesia and the patient would need to spend the night in the hospital or the day next as well. This requires a downtime of 2-3weeks and complete recovery and fading of scars by the end of 2months. The end results are usually a flatter tummy. But it is not a realistic expectation to presume what the advertisement pictures show of model’s abs that have never received a tummy tuck surgery ever. This surgery would not overcome skin irregularities, wrinkles or discoloration.

2.       Mini Tummy Tuck

Mini tummy tuck is a miniature version of the full procedure that is removing and contouring the skin typically between the pubic region and the belly button. This is usually performed on both men and women equally, when it only the lower abdomen that needs attention. The surgery is performed with small incisions, a little bigger than C-section incision. Patients often opt for the mini tummy tuck when the upper abdominal region also needs attention; this might turn up to be a loss of investment as the upper region will bulge over like an umbrella over the edge of the flattened portion. Vaser (http://www.harleybodyclinic.co.uk/) Liposuction or Smart Lipo is also commonly used to justify the condition by cauterizing the upper region of the skin and avoid it from bulging over. As the full tummy tuck comes with a bigger scar and more extensive and expensive procedure that patients often find it less affordable both physically and financially. This is okay if the patient has less sagging skin that can be controlled with mini tummy tuck and Vaser Lipo and it won’t serve the requirement of a full tummy tuck.

3.       Endoscopic Tummy Tuck

This is the new introduced procedure, is a lesser known and performed than its former types. It works with the fascia and tightening muscles and skin with small incisions and sutures with scopes, but doesn’t usually remove the skin or fat. This procedure is ideal for otherwise active patients with a little sagginess in the skin and muscles.
