The deal, the value of which has not been disclosed, will assist GBM’s Glasgow operation to increase its Scottish presence and grow business to around £10 million.
GBM provides cleaning, maintenance, waste and facilities management services. Formed in 1987, it employs over 2,000 members of staff and operates through 55 different locations throughout Scotland and the North of England, with an annual turnover in excess of £40 million. Both GBM and Eclipse have worked alongside each other on previous contracts, to provide integrated services for joint clients. The acquisition will allow GBM increased access to Eclipse’s expertise within the Scottish property management market.
Paul Thompson, Project Director at The Camlee Group, said “We were delighted with the significant level of interest in Eclipse right from the start of the process. GBM was an obvious option from when they first came to the table, particularly given the relationship that the two companies already had, having worked together on contracts previously. Our clients had confidence in the buyers and their ability to build upon different cross-selling opportunities to grow service provisions, whilst still maintaining the high quality standards that have become synonymous with Eclipse.”
Brian Murphy, Eclipse’s managing director is equally positive about the acquisition. “There is a natural fit between the two businesses” he commented. “We have a very similar vision about how we do business and we wanted to find a partner who would keep our values alive whilst moving forward and expanding the business further. I’m confident that combined business will be extremely successful and I’m looking forward to watching it go from strength to strength”.
GBM’s CEO, David Ford also believes that shared values will ensure the success of the acquisition:
