Follow on Google News | Aerospace Engineer at SpaceX and Former Colombian National Soccer Player, Releases World Cup SongBy: Camilo Tobacia His World Cup song, entitled “Gol Y Amor” (Goal and Love), was released on SoundCloud and YouTube on Monday, just as games advance to quarterfinals and Colombia gears up to face the host Brazil this Friday, July 4th. Camilo, who also played as a youth player for Club Deportivo Los Millonarios, a popular Colombian soccer team, says it was once his ultimate dream to play soccer for his country. Although that dream came to a halt when he moved to the United States with his family over 10 years ago, he now enthusiastically works at SpaceX (www.SpaceX.com) This is the first time in the history of soccer that Colombia has made it to the World Cup quarterfinals and now Colombians, reputed to be among the happiest people in the world, have even more reason to be happy. Their team has been gaining much recognition in this World Cup for their great performance, an emerging star player James Rodriguez—named one of FIFA’s best players in World Cup 2014, and their team's lively choreographed dances each time they score. Inspired by his country’s success and his love for soccer, Camilo wrote “Gol y Amor” to embody the love, passion and celebration that surround the beautiful sport. He hopes that people from all nations will enjoy and emphatize with the celebratory words that translate to “happiness is coming...with goals and love you live a better life…so bring on the goals!” And just perhaps, Camilo hopes, the song can also give an extra boost of support to Colombia as the big game day approaches as well.
