Cloudnine Announces Special Awards on Doctors’ Day

BANGALORE, India - July 3, 2014 - PRLog -- Bangalore, 2^nd July, 2014: Doctors’ Day is the annual occasion where we all stop and think about the contribution made by doctors to impact our lives. This Doctors’ Day, Cloudnine has initiated two Distinguished Awards to recognize and honour senior clinicians who have  delivered exceptional service to society through their profession, research, by mentoring younger professionals and by being role models we all look up to.

The “Cloudnine Distinguished Obstetrician” and “Cloudnine Distinguished Paediatrician” awards were launched at a lively Doctors’ Day celebration on 1^st July 2014. The recipients were Dr. Sita Bhateja, who was awarded “Cloudnine Distinguished Obstetrician” and Dr. D. G. Benakappa, who was awarded “Cloudnine Distinguished Paediatrician”, in the presence of all eminent experts from Cloudnine.

About the Awardees

- Dr. Sita Bhateja – Dr. Sita Bhateja is a well-known figure in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. After setting up the department for Obstetrics and Gynaecology  in St. Martha’s hospital she set up her own specialty hospital Sita Bhateja in 1965. A charitable wing was also started in memory of her father-in law who helped in establishment of the hospital. She is highly regarded and has trained some of the best know Obstetric experts today. She also has the honour of having an Australian stamp issued in her name.

- Dr. D G Benakappa - He is one of the pillars of Indian Paediatrics. A former director of the Indian Gandhi Institute of Child Health, Bangalore and a former president of the Karnataka branch of the Indian Medical Association, Dr Benakappa was professor and head of Department of Paediatrics, Bangalore Medical College. He was also the first president of the Indian Academy of Paediatrics from Karnataka.
