Tradeline Financials - US Economic Market Review - Week 27, 2014

US markets continue to lead the way as the S&P 500 and Dow Jones rally to record closes again yesterday.

Economic data in the US has come thick and fast this week and today will be no exception. With a recent poll showing a 5th consecutive month of nonfarm payrolls over 200,000, a feat not seen since the late 90's, it could be fair to say that the US economy is back on track. Ms. Yellen has repeatedly told us this pretty much since she took her position and investors appear to feel the same way.

With the S&P looking to break 2,000 and the Dow near 17,000 it has been a long time since the markets in the US have been so buoyant. This along with an absence of volatility not seen for a decade can only describe a nation well and truly out of recovery and into expansion.

If employment forecasts are correct and unemployment has dropped down again to its lowest in 5 and a half years, with small businesses hiring more people for 9 consecutive months and  the country almost at full employment capacity then it can be expected that the Fed may bring forward their rate increase as many analysts have predicted. Expected in late 2015 a rate increase implemented sooner may spur the economy even further as confidence  grows.

By the end of the day we will see a whole range of employment data, all forecast to better last months and will solidify the run we have seen of late. With initial and continuing jobless claims, payroll figures and the balance of trade will close out a short week in the US as the celebrate Independence Day.
