Follow on Google News | The 7th Annual "Sam Jam" to Benefit Brevard Music AidSam Jam 7 brings Brevard musicians and music enthusiasts together for a day of fun, music and raising money for Brevard musicians and music professionals in catastrophic situations.
By: The Sam Jam ALL proceeds from the event go directly to Brevard Music Aid on Sammy’s behalf as a part of his on going legacy. Samuel “Sammy” Gorman was one of the most giving individuals ever to walk this planet. He was the co-host of the popular Monday Night Jams where musicians from all over the state would come and “jam”. No matter what level of proficiency the musicians had, Sammy was always encouraging and open to teach. He was the kind of guy that if you needed something, he would give it. If you needed a meal, he would cook it. If you needed a place to stay, the couch was set up for you. He was a large part of the Brevard music scene and many fellow musicians turned to him in times of need. He was a true humanitarian and excellent musician. He passed away in 2008. This memorial jam was founded to benefit local area musicians and music professionals as a way for him to continue to help the people he loved. Since that time Brevard Music Aid has helped many Brevard musicians and continues to aid those in need. This event has raised over $10,000 for Brevard Music Aid. We will also remember, honor and celebrate the lives of other Brevard musicians and friends that have passed. The parking lot at the Pineda Inn will be fenced off, so all parking will be at the Florida Today Newspaper back parking lot, (Gannet Building, 1 Gannet Plaza), with a shuttle service provided by Hot Rayz Limousine Service from Noon to 10 PM to the get everyone from the parking lot to Pineda Inn and back to the parking area. Parking for motorcycles will be in front of the Restaurant section of Pineda Inn on the pavement. This year's event will have tents with tables and chairs provided by All Cities Expo Services for everyone's comfort and protection from the weather. This years entertainment will be headlined by national recording artists BIG KETTLE DRUM (BKD), featuring their latest release Lock & Key. Big Kettle Drum is a banjo slinging, suitcase kicking, fiddle playing, slide guitar Americana Band. The band has been together for ten years, touring both nationally and internationally. Lock and Key is their third release, and with the additions of 2 new musicians, the band takes their Americana Folk genre right to the edge with a swampy Florida backwoods style. This year BKD's music will be heard on well over a dozen television shows, as people are finally hearing what a decade of blue collar, life in a Kia Soul pulling a homemade trailer has earned them... Respect. The Sam Jam is known for having the best of Brevard's music scene and this year is no exception. This years bands include Jack Clutterham, Wicked Garden Gnomes, Nightbird, Undefined, Nightfly, Touch'd and 2011 Entertainer of the year SPANKS!
