Canadian Discount Network Divulges Three Pro Tips for Bringing Pets Along on a Vacation

Canadian Discount Network provides advice for bringing pets along when traveling this summer.

TORONTO - July 3, 2014 - PRLog -- Canadian Discount Network recognizes that many people these days enjoy traveling with their pets. Still, others may be apprehensive about bringing their pet on a trip, but find it necessary because of a move or a long stay abroad. Either way, Canadian Discount Network recognizes that traveling with a pet can have a lot that goes into it and that people who are considering traveling with their pets should be prepared before they set out. To help with this, Canadian Discount Network has provided the following tips on traveling with a pet.

1.       Pack right: If a traveler’s pet is used to a certain kind of food, it is a good idea to bring extra, especially if traveling abroad, because that food may not be available elsewhere. Grooming supplies and a first aid kit for the pet is also essential. Also, cat owners should not forget that they will need some sort of litter box and litter for their cat, as hotels probably will not provide it. There are travel versions of many of these items as well as collapsible travel bowls for both food and water.

2.       Be Health Savvy: Just like humans, pets travel best when they are well. Travelers should make sure to take their pet to the vet for a checkup before bringing them on a trip, and make sure that they have any shots that they may need. Getting medications that will prevent them from getting fleas and ticks may also be a good idea. Finally, all travelers should make sure that they have the medical records of their pet with them when they travel in case there is an emergency.

3.       Check the rules: Depending on where a traveler is going and how they are getting there, there are going to be different rules that will apply to their pet. For example, a vet may have to include papers that prove a dog is vaccinated against rabies, and travel to some countries requires a pet passport before a pet is granted entry. Some countries even require pet documents to be translated into their native language before they will accept them, so know the rules before bringing one’s pet on a trip.
