MIAMI - July 2, 2014 - PRLog -- The Executive Committee of Shutts & Bowen LLP has named Michael J. “Micky” Grindstaff, a longtime Shutts & Bowen partner in real estate and land use law, as Managing Partner, Chairman Bowman Brown announced.

“Micky Grindstaff has proven himself as a great lawyer, effective leader, and inspiring mentor for newer generations of lawyers coming up in the firm. We are thrilled that he has accepted the role of Managing Partner and know he will help strengthen our position as the premier statewide Florida business law firm.”

Mr. Grindstaff, working with the firm’s Executive Committee, will be responsible for the administration and growth of Shutts & Bowen’s seven offices in Florida. Mr. Brown remains Chairman of the firm’s Executive Committee.

“This is an honor and a great opportunity to serve the firm in a new capacity, and our strong leadership team will only make it easier to hit the ground running,” Mr. Grindstaff said. “It is a tribute to our excellent lawyers that Shutts & Bowen maintained steady growth over the past several years, and that we attract and retain outstanding lawyers with great professional depth.  We look forward to our firm's second century of service to our clients."

As Managing Partner, Mr. Grindstaff succeeds Joseph D. Bolton, who served as Managing Partner since 2008.  “ It has been a privilege to serve as managing partner for Shutts & Bowen for the past six years,” Mr. Bolton said. “I am proud of what the firm has accomplished.”

The AmLaw 200 ranking of U.S. law firms lists Shutts & Bowen No. 174 in 2013 gross revenues, with $132.5 million. The firm continued to outrank its peers in revenue per lawyer (No. 148) and profits per partner (No. 147).

Mr. Grindstaff has a formidable list of legal and civic accomplishments. He has long been a top-rated lawyer in Chambers & Partners legal guide and Best Lawyers in America, among other honors. He is a director of the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts and the Orange County Sheriff Foundation. Former Sen. Mel Martinez appointed Mr. Grindstaff as past statewide chairman and member of the Federal Judicial Nominating Commission. He has also served as chairman and member of the Orange County Planning and Zoning Commission, member of the Orange County Board of Zoning Adjustment, and as a trustee of the Orlando Science Center.

Mr. Grindstaff has left a particularly strong mark on his alma mater, University of Central Florida, now the nation’s second-largest university. He is former chairman and member of the UCF board of trustees, past chairman and current director of the UCF Foundation, director of the UCF Athletic Association, past director of the UCF Alumni Association, past chairman and president of the UCF Golden Knights Club, and a Lifetime UCF Alumni Trustee.

After receiving his B.S.B.A. from UCF, Mr. Grindstaff graduated cum laude from the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University. He lives in Winter Park.
