Scott Robertson Auctioneer to Compete in International Auctioneer Competition

FORT MYERS, Fla. - July 1, 2014 - PRLog -- (July 1, 2014 – Fort Myers, FLA) - Scott Robertson, CAI, BAS, a 20 year veteran auctioneer and principal of Scott Robertson Event Fundraising Consultants/Auctioneers, will compete against the world’s top auctioneers for the title of International Auctioneer Champion (IAC).  Hosted annually by the National Auctioneers Association (NAA), the competition will take place at the 65th Annual International Auctioneers Conference and Show Friday, July 11, in Louisville, Kentucky.

IAC competitors will be judged on their presentation, chant, voice timbre, body language, interview answers and other performance elements of effective auctioneering. Seventy-six men and 18 women will compete in this year’s competition. The IAC preliminaries will begin at 8 a.m. Friday, July 11. The top seven female contestants and 15 male contestants advance to the finals.

IAC champions serve as industry ambassadors and will spend the next year traveling throughout the country training Auctioneers and representing the industry before the public. A highlight of an IAC champion’s year is serving as the lead Auctioneers at the annual St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Toy Auction. The top male and female winner will be awarded a $5,000 cash prize, trophy and ring.

Robertson is a full time professional Benefit Auctioneer who earned his Benefit Auction Specialist (BAS) designation in 2012. Less than 1% of the auctioneers in the country have earned the BAS professional designation.  In 2013 Robertson conducted 65 charity auctions, raising nearly $22 million dollars.  He is one of an estimated 30 auctioneers in the country that make fundraising auctions their full time profession.
