The 26th Falcon Ridge Folk Festival takes flight Aug 1-3. Homegrown from a humble hillside gathering, it has become a Folk Music & Dance Mecca. Campers and day-trippers converge at this yearly Brigadoon-like setting on the picturesque Dodds Farm in Hillsdale, NY.

The fest boasts concerts and workshops in natural amphitheater settings, hours of dancing on their astonishing 9000 square foot floor, a delightful Family Stage, fun-filled Activities 4 Kids tent, an international food court and an array of vendors. There is something for everyone, be it foodie expo, craft fair, dancing, family fun or late night song circles. The dance tent starts with wake-up yoga and grooves until 2AM Friday and Saturday. The fest is accessible and ASL-interpreted.

Palate pleasers of all stripe line the midway, from Caribbean curries to Thai noodles to hand roasted coffees to Middle-eastern, Bavarian, Mexican, Cajun, Italian plus good ole American comfort food. Over 50 vendors display their wares much of it handmade or fair trade, emphasis on eco-friendly.

2014 artists include Grammy Lifetime Achievement recipient Tom Paxton, fest MVPs The Grand Slambovians, well known character actor turned folkie, Ronny Cox plus The Clayfoot Strutters, Aoife O'Donovan, The Duhks, Cheryl Wheeler, Darlingside, John Gorka, Kim & Reggie Harris, Spuyten Duyvil, Krewe de la Rue and so many more.

Music runs the gamut from Celtic to Cajun to Americana to Blues, Bluegrass, Zydeco, Swing  and more with the fest’s trademark singer/songwriters and Contra Dance bands at the center. Artists from Texas, Florida, Virginia, Vermont, Chicago, Maine, North Carolina, Los Angeles, Winnipeg, Nashville and closer to home are featured.

All fest with or without on-site camping and single day tickets are available. Ages 12 and under admitted free.  Nice discounts for seniors, college students and teens too!

A pre-fest day on Thurs July 31 features food and craft previews, a campers music presentation dubbed The Lounge Stage and the fest's first Social Media School.
