2014 Shermanator - Not Just a Triathlon, Not Just for Individuals

Participants can choose from a World-Class Sprint Triathlon, Duathlon or Aquabike Relay Teams can focus on their favorite sport - Swim, Bike or Run!

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - July 11, 2014 - PRLog -- [July 11, 2014, Augusta, MI]  Early Bird Registration ends on July 18th so it's time for participants to sign up! Registrations for the 2014 Shermanator (http://shermanatortri.org/index.html) are increasing as the event approaches on Saturday, August 2nd.  Many participants from southwest Michigan are participating in their first triathlon, and looking forward to accomplishing their goal! In addition to first time triathletes, there are relay teams made up of friends and families looking to live a healthier, active lifestyles together. People come from across the state of Michigan and beyond to participate in this world class sprint triathlon at the beautiful Sherman Lake YMCA Outdoor Center (http://www.shermanlakeymca.org/).

On Saturday, August 2nd Sherman Lake YMCA will be filled with hundreds of athletes, spectators, and volunteers to cheer as the race begins at 7:45am. The Shermanator consists of three events -- sprint triathlon, duathlon and aquabike. The sprint triathlon (http://shermanatortri.org/racedata.maps.html) begins at 7:45am where participants will swim 500 yards in Sherman Lake, bike 10 miles around on nearby roads, and run a 5K through Sherman Lake YMCA property. The Duathlon is a Swim/Run event and The Aquabike is Swim/Bike.

The Shermanator Triathlon is an annual event that raises funds for the Sherman Lake YMCA Annual Campaign for Scholarships. Financial Assistance for summer camp, school camp programs and YMCA memberships are provided to more than 5,000 kids and families annually. In 2013, the Shermanator raised nearly $20,000 towards this local financial assistance program, enabling community members to learn, grow and thrive.

Anyone can help by simply participating in the Shermanator, acting as a volunteer, or contributing to scholarships.
