Core Health Technologies Releases 2014 HL7 Interface Professionals Survey Results

RALEIGH, N.C. - July 1, 2014 - PRLog -- Core Health Technologies, a leader in healthcare integration (HL7/X12) services, today released results of their annual HL7 Interface Professionals Survey.

Core Health Technologies expanded what was formerly named the HL7 Compensation Survey to include more variables around compensation that affects healthcare integration professionals.  The results provide the market with a real-time snapshot of trends that impact healthcare organizations’ ability to engage and retain quality integration professionals.  Survey results are presented in one document with three major sections:  Consultants, Full-time (perm) employees, and Compensation graphs.  This year, over 630 Integration professionals participated by providing answers to twenty four complex questions.

Several observations in this year’s survey show new market trends including:

- Interface engine usage is diverse with indications of changes in engine usage.  The Orion Rhapsody engine showed growth from 8.5% to over 11% participants’ usage in the last two years.  The Infor Cloverleaf engine decreased from 21% to 19.3% in the same two years and nearly all engines have seen changes in usage reported.

- Compensation is NOT the number one variable in consultants or candidates selecting their next opportunity.  Consultant and full-time participants both report that they consider a more broad set of variables when selecting their next engagement or job.  Only 6.7% of consultants and 7.7% of perm employees report that compensation is their top consideration.

-  FHIR is still in nascent stages of understanding and perceived value.  Participants indicate that they do not yet fully understand HL7 FHIR (pronounced “fire”) with 80.9% of consultants and 74.8% of full-time employees reporting they have weak or non-existent experience with FHIR.  Only 13.7% of consultants and 7.8% of full-time employees perceive FHIR to have strong value in the future.

- Consultants are trending toward W2 Contract vs. 1099.  Consultants reported a 19.1% growth in two years from 54% to 73.1% of consultants working through W2 contracts as opposed to independent 1099 consultants.

Survey results are available at www.HL7X12.com.
