Excitements mounts as race day looms!

WARRINGTON, U.K. - July 1, 2014 - PRLog -- When EMR agreed to support the 2013/14 KMF Young Engineer of the Year Awards last autumn, the company was delighted to be paired with St Margaret Ward Catholic Academy in Stoke.  The programme follows the journey of a group of students, who have all been through a rigorous application and interview process to secure their place in the team, as they design, build and race an electric powered race car against other schools in the area.

With race day now just around the corner, the group of students are making the final changes to their car under the watchful eye of their EMR mentors.  The students have already participated in a number of build and test days, followed by a couple of scrutineering sessions to assess the safety of their carefully assembled vehicle.

The race day will take place at Darley Moore on Wednesday 9th July and each of the 18 registered schools will take part in at least one, one hour and a half race during the event.  EMR Fitter, Dave Powell, has been heavily involved in the project supporting the school team as they progressed through the build stages.  “It’s been such a great experience and I’m really happy to have been as involved as I have.  We can’t wait for race day; I’m particularly looking forward to the sponsors race when I get the chance to get behind the wheel of the car!” he said.
