Toyota Kirloskar Motor supports initiatives in Health and Hygiene!

DELHI, India - July 1, 2014 - PRLog -- Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) today announced the inauguration of Water Purification units at Bidadi, Machanayakanahalli to provide safe drinking water for the benefit of local community.

Mr. H C Balakrishna, MLA, Magadi graced the occasion by inaugurating the Bidadi Unit in presence of Mr. Naomi Ishii, Managing Director, TKM.

The entire Bidadi region is highly polluted due to the release of Industrial and sewage pollutants from Bangalore into the Vrishabhavathi River, which is finally collected in the Byramangala reservoir.

TKM conducted a need assessment study in the local community to determine the basic facilities required and expectations from villages in and around the plant. During the survey, villagers expressed concern for safe drinking water. An analysis of the water sample has exposed increased TDS and Chemical contamination in the water. Toyota decided to support a cause with the concerns of the local community by creating a large scale sustainable community based water purification unit at Byramangala, Ittamadu, in partnership with respective Gram Panchayat last year.

The contaminated water undergoes 6 step filtration processes with reverse osmosis technology and UV rays to deliver IS10500 standard potable water to over 32000 people covering 60 villages.

On the occasion, Mr. Naomi Ishii, Managing Director, TKM expressed that “We at Toyota always believe in giving back to the society in some way or the other. We would take up more such initiatives to create awareness and execute towards a Cleaner and Greener Environment.”

As part of its continued commitment to being a good corporate citizen, Toyota wants to build a sense of commitment for a clean city among the citizens of Bangalore. In this regard, another initiative was taken by TKM by installation of 20 Dustbins (as a pilot project) to dispose off waste from Kasturba Road to Trinity Circle, Bangalore, in collaboration with BBMP. Further, TKM has also started this initiative in the main bus stations in Bangalore city.
