Follow on Google News | Local Students Reap Benefits of New Degree Program through Wodonga TAFEALBURY/WODONGA residents are heralding the new breed of degree program offered through Wodonga TAFE, in partnership with Federation University Australia, as a shining success.
By: Wodonga TAFE Among several Wodonga residents participating in the innovative new program, is mature aged student and family man, Ian Crofts. Mr Crofts, a supply chain manager at a large, locally based international company, is currently completing his final year of a Bachelor of Applied Management, a program that has been developed to meet the local and global need for highly skilled managers. Despite having the appropriate qualifications to meet the demands of his role, Mr Crofts decided to return to his studies in order to strengthen his skills and learn more about the multi-faceted requirements of fulfilling the role of a general manager. “It’s about being able to put newly acquired skills into practice immediately, while also working towards achieving my broader career goals. Having a clear vision for the future and continuously realising my ambitions has always been a priority for me. I’m lucky enough to have an employer that is on board with my vision and committed to investing in its people,” Mr Crofts said. “The challenge of course, is being able to dedicate time to study while managing a full-time workload and fulfilling my role as a father and family man. “Having the option to complete my degree locally has been central to allowing me to maintain a good balance between family and work life, as it cuts out the need for additional travel time,” Mr Crofts said. “I’m now encouraging other members of my team to enrol in the course and I can see this plays a role in strengthening their level of commitment to the company.” Mr Crofts credits the flexibility of the course structure, as well as the network of support offered through Wodonga TAFE and the University as playing a key role in his academic success. Justine Rofe of Wodonga TAFE said: “The program has been developed in direct response to a growing demand from residents and businesses within communities, such as Albury/Wodonga, to gain access to locally based higher education programs that cater to the unique needs of regionally based students.” - END - End
