Utah Students Shine at This Year’s Kayenta Street Art Festival

HURRICANE, Utah - June 30, 2014 - PRLog -- Diamond Ranch Academy brought three teams to this year’s Kayenta Street Art Festival. These included two high school teams and one middle school team. To the academy’s delight, each team performed exceptionally well in the festival, bringing home awards for 1^st place overall, Best Original Design Overall, and Best Original Design in the middle school division. The students worked together to create the award winning pieces with direction from the school’s art program director.

The annual Kayenta Street Art Festival is held at the Kayenta Art Village in Ivins, Utah. This was the festival’s fourth year holding the event in spring. The festival features work from a combination of world-class street painters, well-known local artists, high school students, and children of middle school age and younger. Each school can bring 3 teams with 5 students per team. Awards were given based on presentation, cleanliness, richness of color, detail completeness and composition. Each division awarded schools for the following categories:

Best Themed Painting

The Fine Arts Department at Diamond Ranch Academy is one of the most popular at the school. Students have the opportunity to develop skill in a variety of genres including clay, watercolor, drawing, oil, cartooning, calligraphy, acrylic painting, and ceramics. DRA art students learn and grow with support from each other through art activities held within the program.
