MANHATTAN, N.Y. - June 30, 2014 - PRLog -- swim swim swim I SAY (sssIS), www.swimswimswimisay.com), is the only female-owned and operated swimming company in Upper Manhattan and the Bronx. sssIS was recently selected by Autism Speaks (www.autismspeaks.org) for a prestigious swim grant to teach swimming to children with autism. The grant is valued at $2000 and will make it possible for six students to receive private lessons this summer.

Autism affects 1 in 68 children.  Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and autism are both general terms for a group of complex disorders of brain development. Research has proven that water is both beneficial to autistic children and also alarming as it relates to swim safety. In addition, sssIS, hopes to combat the unfortunate allure autistic individuals have to water, which often leads to drowning. Agnes Davis, CEO, swim swim swim I Say says, “The sensory pleasure of the movement of water, the freedom of being in control and the physical activity makes swimming a win-win for autistic children. I am honored for the opportunity by Autism Speaks, to provide top-notch private swimming lessons to students. Also being part of the first round selection is the ultimate honor.”

Davis says, “sssIS has had the privilege of working with autistic, special needs children and their families for over three years and this scholarship will be a welcome relief. I can offer six scholarships; seven private classes each 30 minutes to families in need of a bailout. We all know that the economy has not fully recovered and when you can offer lessons for free - it’s a blessing.”  To learn more about the scholarship and to apply, visit – http://www.swimswimswimisay.com.

Five years ago Agnes Davis was wrongfully terminated from her job at a top New York City hospital and had to reinvent. She went back to school, used her savings to get the proper certification and launched swim swim swim I Say. Davis’ company teaches quality swimming to children and adults in New York City. Davis also serves as an instructor along with a talented staff of seven.

About Swim Swim Swim I Say:

swim swim swim I SAY teaches tots, children and adults swimming and water safety. What makes swim swim swim I SAY unique compared to other swimming companies is their Fear of Water to Loving the Water Swimming program that they wrote, copyrighted and trademarked. In addition, swim swim swim I SAY instructs individuals with Special Needs that most companies will not work with or have little experience working with.

Autism Speaks Bob and Suzanne Wright, grandparents of a child with autism founded the organization in 2005. Their longtime friend Bernie Marcus donated $25 million to help financially launch the organization. Since then, Autism Speaks has grown into the world's leading autism science and advocacy organization, dedicated to funding research into the causes, prevention, treatments and a cure for autism; increasing awareness of autism spectrum disorders; and advocating for the needs of individuals with autism and their families. We are proud of what we've been able to accomplish and look forward to continued successes in the years ahead.
