About AMERICAN MUSTANG: For the first time, the iconic wild horses of the American West are portrayed in sweeping 3D cinematography in AMERICAN MUSTANG; a family film with a message; as entertaining as it is enlightening. The film tells the plight of wild horses by artfully weaving documentary footage narrated by actress Daryl Hannah, with the engaging story of a young girl’s growing fondness for a newly captured mustang.
Directed by award-winning director, Monty Miranda and co-produced with Price by Just Media founder, Henry Ansbacher, AMERICAN MUSTANG premiered in November at the Starz Denver Film Festival and was an official selection at the Napa Valley Film Festival and San Luis Obispo Film Festival.
About Wild Horses: Stunningly majestic in the wild, where they’ve thrived for generations, America’s mustangs are now in danger of being removed from their homes on the range in order to make room for big agriculture and big energy interests. Today, more wild horses are living in government holding facilities then remain in the wild. The goal of wild horse advocates, and the new film AMERICAN MUSTANG, is to raise awareness and encourage proper management – including humane birth control – to preserve the wild herds that are enduring icons of American freedom.
About the Filmmakers: Ellie Phipps Price, Writer/Producer is vintner, equestrian and wildlife advocate, who has passionately campaigned for the protection of wild horses. She has personally adopted 172 mustangs from government auctions, and released them back into the wild at the 2000-acre wildlife sanctuary she established in Northern California. Realizing that adoption cannot address the larger need to manage horses in the wild, Price became a first time filmmaker; writing and producing AMERICAN MUSTANG to bring the issue to the general public.
Monty Miranda, Director isa Hollywood veteran, whosecredits include television series, music videos, video games, political ads and hundreds of national television commercials, has worked with artists and professionals as diverse as Spike Lee, John Heard, John Meyer, Danny Trejo, Matthew Sweet, Devotchka and Tony Hawk. His work has been recognized by the Cannes LIONS, the CLIO’s, the Effies, the Addy’s, the BDA’s, BBC’s Most Outrageous Commercials and FOX’s World’s Funniest Commercials. AMERICAN MUSTANG is Miranda’s first 3D motion picture.
