SARASOTA, Fla. - June 28, 2014 - PRLog -- Door-to-door crime is a plague across the United States, and a new website has been launched to help keep solicitors away. The site is called NoSoliciting.org, and it is dedicated to the prevention of neighborhood soliciting scams and home invasions. No Soliciting offers real solutions on how to keep solicitors away with hundreds of "No Soliciting" signs, home security products and other deterrents.

No Soliciting was founded in June 2014 by Kate Monteith of Sarasota, Florida after her elderly mother had a scary incident with a solicitor. "There was a knock at the door after dark, and my mother peeped through the window to see a nicely-groomed teenage boy who she thought 'looked safe,'" said Monteith.

When she opened the door, Monteith's mother noticed a very large, scary-looking man standing next to the teenager. "She was afraid, and she didn't know what to do," said Monteith.

Fortunately, the solicitors at her mother 's house turned out to be legitimate, but the incident was enough to spark Monteith's interest in keeping solicitors away. She began to research incidents of door-to-door crime and soon learned that soliciting scams are common across the United States. "Millions of homeowners fall victim every year," said Monteith. "Door-to-door solicitors are more than just an annoyance, they can also be dangerous."

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, 28 percent of all home assaults are committed by persons unknown to the victim. "Burglars commonly disguise themselves as solicitors to case the neighborhood," Monteith noted, "They almost always knock or ring the bell before breaking in." NoSolicitng.org was launched to help homeowners and businesses say "No Soliciting" and really mean it.
