Pet ticks can be deadly, so can be the synthetic tick repellent
Ticks are dangerous, but synthetic repellents are too. Tick bites can cause parasysis and even lead to death. However, inappropriate choice of tick repellents can also be dangerous and cause allergies or even cancer. That`s why specialists recommend to use natural and safe pet tick protectors made of amber.
Every year thousands of pets are infected with tick transmitted diseases. One of the most dangerous diseases is tick bite paralysis, which is seasonal and more prevalent in the summer. In USA it's more commonly seen on dogs but it's also dangerous for cats. A pet could be killed within 36 hours after being bitten by a tick. There are several kinds of ticks found throughout the USA, which transmit dangerous diseases and it`s a constantly growing problem, but pet owners still don`t pay enough attention to prevention or choose unsafe repellents.
Lukas Ambrazevicius, CEO of "Amber Miracles" tells, that company has been working with Baltic Sea amber for two generations now and is expanding their production to amber tick and flea repellents for dogs and cats. “There's plenty of research that question the safety of conventional repellents. Some studies show that synthetic repellents could even cause health problems not only for the animal, but also for others around it, including other pets, kids, the owner and the environment. Tick repellents often contain dangeroussubstances, for example fipronil or permethrin, which is classified by the US Environmental Protection Agency as “Likely to be Carcinogenic to Humans". Amber repellents are unique because they are effective, eco-friendly, affordable and have no expiration date - amber is 44 million years old any way” – says Mr. L. Ambrazevicius.
In toxicity classification of World Health Organization a broad spectrum insecticide fipronil is assigned to highly hazardous substances. Pet can reach and lick the synthetic collar and owners can`t control it. When dog becomes allergic or it`s immune system gets weaker, pet owners sometimes don`t realize, that this is caused by synthetic tick repellents. Preventing animal from one danger may pose other risks. That is the reason, why more and more people are looking for natural cures, which are effective and safe for animal and the environment.
Baltic amber has been known for centuries as a nature’s own cure for inflammations and pains. Amber is also known to create electrostatic charge when rubbed to other objects (including fur), in fact amber in Greek is electron. When in contact with fur, amber creates an electrostatic charge and prevents tick and fleas from holding onto the pet. Amber pet necklaces are most popular natural tick repellent in Baltic countries where amber is found - you can buy them at any vet store, and now we're bringing the product to the US.”, - notes L. Ambrazevicius.
Amber necklaces are very effective, during our testing they performed equally good and in some cases better than conventional repellents. The protection comes into effect after wearing it for about a week. However, no matter what kind of repellent you use it's recommended to search the dog thoroughly every day for ticks.
