Western North Carolina’s Italian Cookie Lady

BREVARD, N.C. - June 27, 2014 - PRLog -- As a way to celebrate and thank her customers in Western North Carolina, owner Agatha Westerhoff, has planned a special, limited cooking class, where she will be teaching how to make her unique and delicious cake truffles.  “It has been an honor to work here in Western North Carolina and I wanted to create a special event to say thank you, to everyone.  Sharing what I love to do seemed the most sincerest way of doing this.  Thanks to Aloha Travel, who will host the event on August 13^th we will have an intimate group learning how to make my special truffles,  It will be a lot of fun as friends and food is a recipe for a great time. “

So who is The Italian Cookie lady?  Agatha Westerhoff grew up in a traditional Italian American home, learning to cook alongside her mother.  “The times we spent cooking together were always fun and a great joy to both myself and my mom.  It was this that gave me a love of cooking and a love for our Italian heritage and the taste of our traditional foods.   I cooked for my own family, yet as an operating room nurse, never got as much time as I wanted to cook.   For years friends would request my cookies and cakes.  Once I retired, I knew exactly what I wanted to do, and that was to cook.  I wanted to bring Italian pastries into the lives of everyone, where these wonderful Italian deserts can be enjoyed every day.  The cookie recipes are my mothers, while the truffles are my own. “

“Our breakthrough was when I joined the Hendersonville Chamber’s Lead South group.  They truly embraced me, and businesses began buying my deserts and cookies as thank you gifts for their clients.    Since then orders have continued to come in.”

One of the most enjoyable aspects of her business is when clients call her and explain that they love her products, especially when they say how much it reminds them of the cookies that their own grandmothers used to make.

In addition to her fresh made products, which are never frozen and have no added preservatives, Aggie is looking to expand into the wedding industry through supplying the pastries, deserts and authentic Italian wedding cakes. In preparation for this, she is looking at new packaging designs.
