PRLog - June 26, 2014 - NEW YORK -- Greek Revival coin silver centerpiece. Made by Gorham in Providence, ca. 1860. Shallow bowl with lobed well on knopped and tapering stem mounted to dome foot. Foot mounted to circular base which, in turn, is mounted to 3 foliate-scrolled supports. Other structural details include 3 scrolled brackets mounted to stem, which in turn support 3 scrolled brackets mounted to bowl.

Bowl interior has raised flowers. Flowers and foliage applied to brackets. Base has applied foliage and ram’s heads. Other ornament includes beading and gradrooning. Bowl interior lightly gilt. Presentation engraved on base.
A major piece embodying Classical and bucolic influences from the end of the coin era.
Hallmarked. Excellent condition with rich patina.
